Our instructors have over 20 year’s of experience in teaching people how to drive a car and we have a well established approach to take you from your first time in the driving seat, developing your drivings skills and experience and passing your driving test.

Whether you’ve just turned 17 and still in school or turned 70 and picking up your pensions, we’ve had experience in teaching people of all ages learn to drive.

We work with first time learners and people who have started to driving lessons with another instructor and are no looking for a change.

How do I get a provisional driving licence?

To get a provisional driving licence you need to apply to the DVLA for one. The quickest way to apply is to go to DVLA online.  If you prefer a more traditional approach, you can also apply by completing a D1 form, which you can pick up form any post office.  It currently costs £34 to apply online and you can pay using a debit or credit card. You’ll also need proof of identity and proof of address.

For proof of identity you can use a passport, If you don’t have a passport you can use a birth certificate plus National Insurance Number card.

For proof of address, you need to provide you addresses  for the last 3 years.

In order to apply for a provisional licence you need at least 15 years and 9 months old, but you won’t be able to start learning to drive until your 17.  You also need be able to read a licence plate from 20 metres and need to have lived in the UK for at least 6 months in the last year.

 

How many lessons will it take me to pass my driving test?

For someone who has never driven before we aim to you ready to take the test with 20 hours of driving lessons. Some of our pupils pass their driving test in a quicker time, whilst others may take a little more time get ready.

It is very much dependent on you driving ability, previous experience and if you are getting additional driving practice over and above your driving lessons.

Can I get practice driving with friend or family

Getting additional driving practice with family or friends in addition to your normal driving lessons is a great way practice and re-enforce the skills you learn in you driving lessons and it can help to build your driving confidence.

Extra driving practice can also help you gain experience in a wider range of driving conditions, including different levels of traffic, road conditions, weather conditions and night and day driving.

You will need to display L-plates on the car you are practising in and you also need to ensure that you have insurance cover.
